Early pioneers of the wine industry in the South West of Western Australia, the Mountford family selected Pemberton with its high winter rainfall for the unique flavour potential possible from this cooler and largely forested region.

Trained horticulturist Andrew Mountford was looking for a region as yet undiscovered in Australia and chose the site of the vineyard based upon the combination of soil, climate, topography and of course most importantly the right feel.
